I bought 1 yard of their custom blend to create my first garden. My vegetables grew great in it! It grew an amazing garden and the plants loved it! There were some small rocks in it but over all a very quality, nutrient dense soil. WORTH IT👍

I brought my contractor with me to purchase thousands of dollars worth materials. We inquired about the contractors discount, was told it would not be an issue. Delivery came, the bill did not have the discount. I figured it was an oversight. I inquired and was told that my contractor would have had to make the purchase, which he would have had I known this at their office. Fundamentally this is a stupid purpose-less rule given that I would have just handed him a check 10 seconds later. But I called it to their attention, was referred to a manager or owner, Steve, who was flat out rude to me. I asked if my next order that had yet to come, could not have a delivery fee, given I had already paid for a few on earlier deliveries, he declined. The concept or customer service is totally lost on them. I gave them 2 stars because the lovely young woman helping me seemed a bit perplexed as well. They ought to let her run the place. I see from other reviews I am not the only one experiencing this type of treatment. Do yourself a favor, go to Pro Aggragate. They are super to work with.

I've been doing business with Sutherland on and off since 2019 and I must say that they have a great selection of materials, a beautifully landscaped facility with many elements to help generate ideas, along with reasonable prices and availability. But most importantly, I like the customer service. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable, and they offer great service and are open 6 days a week. They are *my* landscape supplier and I appreciate the way they do business - very *local* feel 🙂

Southerland Landscape Center is a wonderful place, not only to get great ideas, but materials and resources for all your landscaping projects. They have the best garden and custom blend soils in chico. I've never had weeds sprout from the soil blends I have purchased from them. I will always recommend them for all your landscaping needs.

I like the selection of products and the prices seem reasonable. I saved a lot of money on gravel by getting it here instead of Ace or Home Depot.

Terrible service, they may have great products but they do not give accurate information and they are rude. I was ready to purchase 3 pallets of flagstone, they told me they had it and they would call the next day for payment after they weigh it. They called the following day and told me that they no longer have all 3 pallets, even though they said they did less than 24 hrs prior. Their only response was “oh that sucks”. Waist of time.

Sutherland landscaping used to be a great place to hang out, do some shopping, dream big, and receive great customer service. BUT… the previous owner, Bruce Whitegiver, sold it. Whereas Bruce was a top notch guy and responsive to customers and their visions and requests, these new owners ain’t that. They’re brusk if not outright rude, come up with excuses NOT to fulfill your landscaping needs, just outright unpleasant people.
